The search for Typhoid Mary turned up a variety of interpretations to the nick Typhoid Mary.
Mary Mallon aka 'Typhoid Mary”, was the first healthy carrier of typhoid fever in the United States in the early twentieth century.
A professional cook, she could cook her food, eat it and stay healthy. But all who ate her dishes - infested with Typhoid bacteria – fell ill with Typhoid.
After deep investigation Health officials traced the root cause of the epidemic to Mary Mallon .She could not understand how she could spread typhoid when she was healthy. So she fought back vehemently denying that she was a carrier and refusing to stop working as a cook. The Public Health Department quarantined her against her will. But she kept she disappearing only to pop up somewhere to serve her dishes. Mallon's informed return to cooking was unforgivable.
